OPEN WALLS is a unique and internationally renowned gallery space that focuses on Urban Fine Art. The OPEN WALLS project is transient in nature with its many Pop-Up shows, internet presence and constant public appeal at some of the largest urban art fairs in the world. Our program mainly focuses on developing the movement surrounding Urban Art and allowing it to have a voice in the contemporary fine art world.
OPEN WALLS is predominately based in Stattbad, a large vacant local swimming pool in the northern part of Berlin that also houses artist's studios and silkscreen printing facilities. BR1, Blo, Just, Alias, Vermibus, Miss Take, Anton Unai, Doppeldenk, Paola Delfin, Giacomo Spazio, Various & Gould and Thomas von Wittich are just a few of the international artists represented by OPEN WALLS. Many of the represented artists were heavily rooted in the Berlin street art & graffiti scene originally, but now hold a place in the art gallery. Using a multitude of mediums such as collage, photography, printmaking and painting, these artists have large vibrant and dynamic collections that are available to view in the showroom alongside the main gallery space.
Guillaume Trotin and Elodie Bellanger are the French couple behind the OPEN WALLS idea. Former joint curators of the renowned West Berlin Gallery, they opened OPEN WALLS in 2012 and have successfully taken part in many Pop-Up shows throughout Europe as well as leading art fairs such as Stroke in Munich, Bloom in Cologne, Moniker in London or Istanbul Contemporary. Both curators have a strong passion for further developing the terms and ideologies of Urban Art, and have an in-depth knowledge of every artist they represent. They also openly encourage discussion and advice with anyone seeking further guidance in this field in regards to acquisitions and collections. In addition to our website, you can find us on Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Pinterest where you can see many photos of the street artists we represent.
